Back in January when the ducks started playing lights out hockey, I did some math and came to the conclusion that if the Ducks have more than 8 regulalation losses over their remaining Jan, Feb, March and April games, the playoffs were out of the question. This was because I figured it would take at least 94 points to clinch 8th, and there are only so many points left on the table

Last night was regulation loss #6 since I did my math. Even if I am off by a few, it looks like we have to win almost every game from here on out to even sniff the 8th seed. I am certainly going to continue pulling for the playoffs, but the things that excite me most now are seeing Selanne continue to move up the scoring lists and to hopefully see Schultz get a cup of coffee pretty soon.

It's been a good run, but the odds have been against this team since that horrible november. Realistically, even if they made the 8th seed they would likely be dropped in the first round anyway. This team is still just a bit too far away from being a contender. We won't be one until the young guys like Schultz, Etem, DSP and Palmieri find their NHL games.

I'm still happy with the compete level. Hopefully we can get Lubo to re sign for 2 years. It's crazy to say that I'm not concerned about Teemu leaving, but I think we have some young forwards who can fill in. Etem could do well on the second line with Holland. I don't know if I would re sign Koivu unless it was a good deal. I think Murray did good with Beauch so I hope he can make some good signings in the offseason

Honestly, I have no idea why you're saying this right now. Sure the kings beat the ducks by two (one goal being an empty netter) after the ducks played the night before and the kings hadn't played since tuesday. If you call the rise probably missing the playoffs or a probable first round loss, then yes, you are exactly right.

But I suppose anything is a rise since your franchise's success cannot get any lower. Have a nice day.

There was because he's a desirable defenseman with a very affordable contract next year. He is going to be paid much lower than his cap hit. I can't remember exactly what it is though. Hopefully he turns around his game next year.

I think since he has gotten healthy he has been playing better, but he needs to increase his production

The ducks should put in a formal investigation of some sort as to why the schedule makers hate them so much, they just get back from an 8 game road trip to 5 games in 7 days, while the kings had 3 days off. They constantly have to play the team coming into socal before thkings play that team the next night. Why do they hate them so!!

Every team has stretches of bad scheduling. Especially western conference teams. I'm not one to complain about that, although I will admit that that 8 game roadie was basically a 10 gamer, since they only had two days and one game back in OC before going to Colorado the next day. Those last few games of that trip were tough, and the team still is fatigued if you ask me.

Good teams find a way to win, or win consistently enough to offset the tough stretches in scheduling. No excuses

Loved the run they went on, thought they were hitting their stride for a second. With RPG and Teemu/Saku/Hiller. Thats a team ooo that should make the playoffs. Freaking Ducks. Please stop making the Los Angeles Flyers look good.

reminds me a lot of the devils last season. it's just too hard to win that many games, and even if they did they would likely be burnt out in the playoffs.

I suppose, the last two season's of first round exits aside, this is the best they've been since Jason Allison was their top scorer!

Definitely a tough pill to swallow, these miserable starts the past few season has been heartbreaking as a fan.

As for the troll Kings fan, what are you gloating about? 45 years of mediocre hockey? You freaking had "The Great One" and still didn't win the cup. Just remember, even IF you ever win a cup, The DUCKS were the first California team to win it. You can't undo that part of history son.

Yeah and if it wasn't for the Dodgers, Gene Autry wouldn't have been granted an expansion baseball team in the Dodgers market, and the Angels wouldn't exist. But it's still quite clear that the Angels are the better franchise.

So thank you Kings for existing, trading for the greatest player ever, promptly not winning a Cup with the likes of 99, Kurri, Luc, Nicholls, Blake, etc. so that we could be the first. Come to think of it, the creation of the Ducks might be the Kings' single greatest accomplishment! I mean, it's more impressive than the lone Campbell Conference Championship banner hanging in Staples, which actually signifies a rather swift 4-1 ass-kicking by Montreal.
